Coalition for Integrity Sends Letter to National Economic Council

Posted on by admin

Coalition for Integrity sent a letter to Director of National Economic Council Larry Kudlow emphasizing support for the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and emphasizing that now is not the time to send the signal that the U.S. is reconsidering or might even weaken the FCPA.  Rather, now is the time to  push for strong and consistent enforcement of the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention and press major economic competitors such as China and India to become signatories to and enforce the obligations of the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention. The Challenge urged candidates for the General Assembly to support legislation strengthening Virginia’s ethics agencies, as well as to exercise personal transparency in their campaigns. Ultimately, twenty-five candidates,  signed onto and complied with the Challenge, and eleven of those candidates won their races. Several other candidates have indicated their support for improved ethics enforcement.  Eleven candidates who took the challenge won their elections. The Coalition will work with the members of the General Assembly on improved ethics oversight in Virginia in the next legislative session. Read our memo here

House of Representatives Passes Corporate Transparency Act

Posted on by admin

The United States House of Representatives passed the Corporate Transparency Act of 2019 (H.R. 2513) on October 22, 2019 by a 249 to 173 vote. This bill will crack down on anonymous shell companies, help law enforcement fight money laundering, and prevent the misuse of the U.S. financial system by criminals. Beneficial ownership transparency is key to reducing the ability of kleptocrats to hide and enjoy their stolen assets. We urge the Senate to swiftly pass companion legislation. Thank you Representative Carolyn Maloney for your leadership.
