Coalition for Integrity is saddened by the passing of Senator Richard Lugar, the recipient of the 2013 Integrity Award.

We honored Senator Lugar with the Integrity Award in 2013 for his career as a strong proponent of transparency and accountability, and sustained leadership on reforms to reduce corruption in the U.S. and abroad.  Among notable highlights:  Senator Lugar wrote the Cardin-Lugar Amendment of the Financial Reform Bill (Section 1504 of the Dodd-Frank Act) and led its adoption into law; authored the 2011 report entitled “Fraud and Abuse of Global Fund Investments at Risk Without Greater Transparency” which called for action to protect investments in global health programs; and was a champion of reforms to increase transparency in lending practices of multi-national development banks.

His strong record of bipartisanship and his commitment to personal integrity will always be part of his enduring legacy.
