WHAT IS CORRUPTION? Corruption is the abuse of entrusted power for private gain.  It has been estimated that corruption costs societies more than $1 trillion annually. Corruption affects society in many adverse ways:

  • Taxpayers pay more due to public procurement corruption. It has been estimated that between 20% and 25% of global public procurement spending is lost to corruption.
  • Trust in government and the rule of law is diminished when public officials take bribes.
  • Citizens in developing countries do not benefit from international development assistance when it is stolen or misused by corrupt public officials.
  • Free and fair economic competition is harmed when companies pay bribes to win contracts.

Addressing the corruption challenge requires a collective effort. Whether you choose to donate, volunteer, or join the conversation, you can make a difference, and we welcome your support.
