Posted on by Tanner Sandor

Coalition CEO Position Announcement

The Coalition for Integrity, a leading advocate against corruption and for integrity, is seeking a new President and CEO who wants to make a difference.  The Coalition is a 501(c)(3) organization whose President and CEO will work with top echelons of governments, multilateral organizations, civil society organizations, labor organizations and businesses.  The Coalition’s mission is to lead the effort at home and abroad to curb corruption and promote integrity in government and business.  The Coalition’s highly regarded and long-serving President and CEO has taken an important anti-corruption position at the State Department.  The Board of the Coalition believes that the new President and CEO will have a remarkable opportunity to engage in projects of great national and international policy significance and continue to build the organization.

The Coalition

Within the United States, the Coalition supports policies to foster the integrity of government, business and electoral institutions.  Among other things, it has issued an Integrity Challenge to candidates for election, supported strong enforcement of laws and regulations against corruption, both at the federal and state government levels, and it has called for action to combat money laundering and promote transparency, and to strengthen government ethics.  The Coalition has also done cutting-edge work on tools for prevention of corruption, including exploring the use of artificial intelligence,  and in specific sectors such as infrastructure.  The Coalition actively supports initiatives to curb corruption in international trade and business transactions, including the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention and the U.N. Convention against Corruption.  Each year the Coalition bestows an Integrity Award on an individual who has made exemplary contributions in the fight against corruption and a Business Leadership Award to a company that has demonstrated strong commitment to corporate responsibility, ethics and leadership in stemming corruption.  The Coalition is non-partisan, headquartered in Washington D.C., and governed by a Board of Directors of about twenty persons residing across the country and the world.

The Board is seeking to broaden the Coalition’s geographic reach, increase its impact and expand its programs and staff.  It seeks to strengthen ties with other organizations, both inside the United States and internationally that share its goals of combatting corruption and strengthening the integrity of government and business institutions.

The Position

The President and CEO will assume leadership at an opportune moment.  The need for strong, effective and non-partisan civil society leadership to promote integrity continues to be great.  The Board is seeking a President and CEO who will be an entrepreneurial, collegial and substantively qualified leader at a time of change and growth for the organization.  The Coalition believes that responsible businesses play an indispensable role in combatting corruption and seeks a President and CEO who will maintain and strengthen cooperation with business as well as ensuring that the Coalition remains a leading voice in policy circles.  Priority tasks for the next President and CEO will be:

  • Diversify and grow the Coalition’s funding base by strengthening existing, and developing new, relationships with corporations, foundations and individuals.
  • Solidify the Coalition’s branding and expand its name recognition, through the development of new communications tools, including the effective use of mass and social media.
  • Work with the Board to set strategic and programmatic goals for the organization.
  • Execute the Coalition’s domestic and international program activities in a coherent and complementary fashion, working to increase their impact and reach.
  • Speak out in an authoritative and substantively proper manner on the Coalition’s policy priorities.
  • Expand the Coalition’s partnerships geographically with civil society organizations and business both at home and abroad.
  • Recruit and motivate a growing staff, guiding and empowering them.
  • Manage the Coalition’s resources wisely and ensure that the organization is in full compliance with legal and ethical requirements.

The successful candidate will have a strong personal commitment to integrity, credibility in and knowledge of cutting edge issues in the anticorruption space in the United States and internationally, proven fundraising abilities, a record of teambuilding and leadership, confidence in public speaking, a commitment to nonpartisanship and moral courage to challenge corruption.

The Coalition for Integrity is pleased to announce that Worth D. MacMurray has joined the organization as its Interim President and CEO, effective July 5, 2023, following the departure of Shruti Shah last month for a position at the U.S. State Department as a Senior Policy Adviser.

Worth brings to the interim role a wealth of experience in the areas of anti-bribery and corruption, transparency and accountability, compliance, good governance, and related areas. He has served as general counsel for a number of publicly-traded companies in the United States and as a chief compliance officer, practiced for several years in the anti-corruption practice of PwC, and as an anti-corruption compliance program subject matter expert to the Special Outside Compliance Advisor to the Siemens Supervisory Board, among other roles.

In recent years, he has been deeply involved in the assessment and certification of corporate antibribery compliance programs and other control systems. He was involved in the US Technical advisory group sponsored by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) that worked to help create the ISO 37001 standard for anti-bribery management systems, holds the “PECB Certified ISO 37001 Lead Auditor” designation, leads ISO 37001 training and workshops, and serves as a lead auditor or subject matter expert on ISO 37001 certification and follow-up audits for leading certification bodies.

“Worth’s deep experience, both domestic and international, with anti-bribery and anti-corruption issues and compliance systems, network of relationships, and familiarity with the policy arena make him an ideal choice to take the Coalition’s agenda forward while we conduct a search for a long-term President and CEO,” said Lucinda Low, Chair of the Board of Directors. “Worth is well-known to the Board and the community and highly respected. His knowledge and experience will enable him to effectively lead our many ongoing policy and programmatic initiatives.”

“I am delighted to be joining the Coalition for Integrity as the Interim President and CEO”, said Worth. “I have known and admired the organization’s work, know many of its Board members, and look forward to working with them and others to promote the Coalition’s agenda and continue its impact.”
